Dr Abdulrazak Abyad
Internist, Geriatrician & Healthcare Leader
Dr. Abdulrazak Abyad is a distinguished physician and public health expert whose career bridges clinical practice, academic leadership, and healthcare management. Currently serving as a consultant internist and geriatrician at Dar Al Shifa Hospital in Kuwait, he has held prominent leadership positions including CEO of Abyad Medical Center in Lebanon, Chairman of Medical Education in Riyadh, and CEO of an elderly care and psychiatric hospital. His contributions extend to the General Authority for Health Services in Abu Dhabi, where he developed family medicine programs, CME/CPD initiatives, and primary healthcare strategies. Trained at the American University of Beirut, University of Arizona, and the European Academy for Medicine of Ageing, he holds advanced qualifications in geriatrics, medical gerontology, public health, business administration, and strategic management.
With decades of dedication to advancing geriatric medicine, Dr. Abyad has pioneered elderly care programs, coordinated international collaborations, and founded influential professional organizations, including the Middle-East Academy of Medicine of Ageing and the Middle-East Association on Aging and Alzheimer’s. A prolific author and editor, he has published over 200 research papers, reviews, and case reports, and established six peer-reviewed medical journals. His work with WHO, regional governments, and academic institutions has shaped policies and clinical guidelines across the Middle East. Recognized globally, he has received numerous awards for excellence in medical education, primary care, and geriatric health, and continues to contribute through research, conferences, and thought leadership
